Central warehouse for Monier Roofing

Everything for the Roof under One Roof

Since May 2006, DB Schenker has operated a large central warehouse (18,000 m²) in Bingen on behalf of Monier Roofing Components GmbH & Co. KG. Monier is a leading manufacturer of roof components.

The DB Schenker Logistics Center in Bingen contains some 20,000 pallet spaces for storing every kind of roof material and component used by Monier, such as insulation material, mounting elements and roof frames. Rack and block storage systems are used for the pallets. In addition,
DB Schenker has some 5,000 spaces available for other storage needs.

Customer-specific DP solution
Every day, DB Schenker sends shuttles to collect goods from the Monier plants in Oestrich-Winkel and Berlin and transport them to the logistics center. As soon as they arrive here, the consignments are electronically recorded. The logistics service provider developed a customized data processing solution specifically for Monier Roofing Components. The inventory management program allocates incoming goods a specific space in the warehouse. At the same time, the software generates a label with the exact space number. This ensures that all articles are stored in the correct spaces. The logistics processes are carried out using scanner technology, which means that no paper is used.

Complete information transparency

The software is also used as an inventory control system, whereby all available items can be called up at any time, quickly and easily. Monier receives complete warehouse status data on a daily basis, keeping it constantly up-to-date on current inventory levels. This allows production capacity to be increased or reduced as needed. To ensure that goods are transported efficiently from the logistics center, DB Schenker oversees outbound processes and, if required, order picking as well. In addition to the central warehouse in Bingen, DB Schenker operates a regional warehouse for Monier in Hagen.
