Logistics for technical medicines

Rösch AG incorporates DB Schenker into its QA system

The DB Schenker logistics center in Berlin is also equipped to handle delicate products from the technical medicines sector.

For Rösch AG, Schenker Deutschland AG handles the stockholding, quality control, picking and dispatch of technical medical products that are in demand on the domestic and international markets. The best-known innovations from the firm of Rösch include an injection system with which medicines can be administered under the skin without a needle and therefore with little pain.

Waiting for the quality inspection results
The  DB Schenker business location in Berlin has set up two warehouses for Rösch: one quarantine warehouse and one warehouse for articles that are ready for dispatch. The quarantine warehouse is necessary because all the delivered goods must first await the results of the random sample sterility and functional analysis by a Cologne laboratory. Until approval has been granted for the relevant products, they remain "in quarantine". When the OK is received from the Rhineland, in-house trained  DB Schenker staff perform the visual quality inspection of the phials. Then the goods are sent in perfect condition to the ordinary warehouse until they are called off. If the pallets delivered by Rösch contain several batches, they are as a rule put into stock separately and in an "inventory-friendly" manner. This has the advantage that later picking can be carried out significantly faster. National and international dispatch by  DB Schenker is also provided for in the Rösch AG logistics concept. Call-off is done by telephone, fax or email. Matthias Kempe, who is responsible for the Logistics Department at Rösch, assesses the good collaboration with  DB Schenker: "As a company in the technical medicines sector, we are reliant on our products reaching the addressee firstly quickly and secondly in absolutely perfect condition. In  DB Schenker we have found a partner that plays the role that a logistics service provider can play in a first-class manner."
